2021 Eisner Award Nominations Announced!
Two comics I translated are nominated for Eisner Awards this year!
The 2021 Eisner Award nominees were announced today. I’m proud to have two books I translated on the list, from two different publishers: Oni Press and perennial stalwart SelfMadeHero. As with last year, it’s great seeing translated books migrate from the usual catchall “foreign” category into competition with domestic titles. In this case, these are both categories where books I’ve translated have been nominated before:
Best Reality-Based Work
Invisible Differences: A Story of Asperger’s, Adulting, and Living a Life in Full Color by Mme Caroline and Julie Dachez (Oni Press)
Best U.S. Edition of International Material
Altitude by Olivier Bocquet and Jean-Marc Rochette (SelfMadeHero)
These are both well-received books I’ve covered elsewhere on my blog. I’d like to thank my publishers for giving me the chance to work on such great material and be a part of bringing it to the attention of U.S. readers and juries. I had no hand in getting these books nominated, but I like to think I did have one in ensuring the evident quality that might have contributed to that.
