Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document the latest reviews and releases of works I’ve written or translated, as well as lectures, interviews, and public appearances. Stay safe, stay angry!

Edward Gauvin, "Gatecrasher"

Edward Gauvin, "Gatecrasher"

Matt M. Martin, self-appointed “official McSweeney’s arbiter,” whose job it is “to make sure each issue gets reviewed as quickly as possible,” delivers detailed opinions on the latest issue, where he says:

And it continues with Edward Gauvin, who has the best piece. The best piece is usually the longest, and that’s true here too. Gauvin has an interesting & unique autofiction (?) novella structured as a series of author bios, including revised entries for Edward Gauvin (or “Edward Gauvin”) himself. The "story" circles itself, but you’re never sure if you’re spiraling outward or inward (or both simultaneously). I’ve never read anything like it, & I’m glad it’s here: it’s an experiment that works & justifies its experimentalism.
