Comics Artist Jason Novak Cartoon-Interviews Me

Last November, cartoonist Jason Novak began drawing brief B&W interviews with literary translators and asking for names on whom he should consult. I was happy to join a lineup that included Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún, Arunava Sinha, Bruna Dantas Lobato, Daniel Levin Becker, and Idra Novey.

Novak and I corresponded over email. As he rightly observes in his eventual post, “Edward Gauvin isn’t on Twitter,” which accounts for the time lapse between his comic and my finding out about it. Everything is accurate, except for my collared shirt — a sartorial choice the pandemic mostly buried.
