Two titles on The Comics Journal's Best of 2023 List
Two titles I translated were chosen for the Comics Journal’s year-end Best of 2023 list. Mark Peters picked Numa Sadoul’s Doctor Moebius and Mister Gir from Dark Horse’s Moebius Library, with the exhortation, “Come on. It’s Moebius. As fellow genius Kirby said, “Don’t ask! Just buy it.” While Leonard Pierce picked the first book of Pierre-Henry Gomont’s Slava: After the Fall from Europe Comics, calling it a book that “treats the devastating effects of capitalism with both dread and good humor, French artist Pierre-Henry Gomont… cartoons in the classic European style, with gorgeous colors and elegant, playful lines, but his dialogue is modern, natural and sharp, and he uses clever visual effects throughout this portrait of humanity untethered from any notion of a social contract. It’s relevant, funny and frightening.”
